About us

A family that happens to run care homes

South West Care isn’t a corporate group with a head office in another county. It’s four Devon homes, run by the same family, for people who deserve to feel at home.

Our story

Rooted in Devon

We began with a single home and grew slowly — one house at a time, only ever in the South West, and only ever at a size where care could stay personal. Today the family runs four homes: Adelaide Lodge, Magnolia House, Netherhayes, Sunningdale House.

We’ve deliberately stayed small. A large chain can’t know your mother’s name, her routines, the way she takes her tea. We can — and that, more than anything on a brochure, is what a good home comes down to.

Our butterfly isn’t a logo we chose from a catalogue. It stands for the gardens and grounds that run through all four homes, and the belief that later life should still be full of ordinary, outdoor, everyday things.

Regulation & standards

Registered and inspected

Every home is registered with and inspected by the Care Quality Commission. Adelaide Lodge holds a Good rating (18 January 2020). You can read our entries on the CQC register at any time.

We publish each home’s current rating and latest inspection date here — confirmed per home so families always see the accurate picture.

Meet the people behind the homes

The best introduction is a visit. Come and meet the team, see a home, and ask us anything.
